Voices of the Community

Real stories of change, dignity, and empowerment from our field operations.

"Before Amiti set up the health camp in our neighborhood, I had no access to regular eye examinations. They diagnosed my early-stage cataract and facilitated my surgery for free. Today, my vision is fully restored."

Rukmani Bai

Beneficiary, Sehore District

"For low-income families traveling to Bhopal for cancer treatment, managing food is a huge economic stress. The meals provided by the Sarva Mangal Bhojan project let us focus entirely on my son's recovery."

Deepak Sharma

Caregiver at Cancer Hospital

"Attending the school health seminars organised by Amiti helped my classmates and me understand menstrual health and personal hygiene. It removed the awkwardness and fear we used to hold."

Message from the Founder

When I started Amiti, I wasn't thinking about building an organisation. I simply wanted to help people.

Over time, I realised that some of the biggest health challenges in our communities are not caused by a lack of treatment, but by a lack of awareness. People often don't know when to seek help, what is normal, or where to find reliable information.

Amiti was created to bridge that gap. We believe that healthcare begins with knowledge, conversations and community support. By making preventive healthcare interactive, inclusive and accessible, we hope to empower people to make informed choices for themselves and their families.

This is only the beginning, and we look forward to creating healthier communities together.

Amit Kimtee Founder, Amiti Social Welfare Society

Vision

To create a gender‑equitable, healthy society where every individual- especially women and girls- can access preventive healthcare, live with dignity, and participate fully in social and economic life, regardless of their socio‑economic background.

Mission

Our mission is to:

  • Strengthen community‑based, preventive and promotive healthcare systems with a special focus on women, adolescents and other underserved groups.
  • Empower women and girls with knowledge, agency and skills so they can actively shape decisions about their health, livelihoods and well‑being.
  • Build sustainable, community‑owned social enterprises and livelihood models, in convergence with National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) frameworks and women‑centric government schemes.
  • Collaborate with public systems, local institutions, CSR partners and civil society to offer integrated solutions around health, nutrition, mental health, safety and economic resilience, in line with the Ministry of Women and Child Development’s mandate for holistic development of women and children.

Our Core Goals

Preventive & Promotive Healthcare

  • Increase access to regular health screening, early identification and timely referral for women, adolescents, children and vulnerable groups.
  • Strengthen community awareness on nutrition, menstrual health, mental health, and non‑communicable diseases, aligned with SDG 3 targets.

Women’s Agency & Livelihoods

  • Organise and capacitate women (including SHG members) as health ambassadors, community mobilisers and micro‑entrepreneurs, in the spirit of DAY‑NRLM.
  • Build market‑linked, sustainable livelihood opportunities that enhance women’s income, decision‑making power and financial resilience.

Safe, Inclusive Spaces

  • Create and nurture safe physical and social spaces in communities where women, adolescents and vulnerable groups can access information, counselling, and care.
  • Integrate principles of dignity, non‑discrimination and gender‑sensitivity, complementing WCD initiatives.

Systems Convergence

  • Forge strong partnerships with government departments (Health, WCD, Rural Development/NRLM), local bodies, and corporates to scale interventions.
  • Align programme design and impact measurement with SDGs, national health priorities and women‑centric schemes.

Thematic Focus and Alignment

Preventive healthcare and health literacy

School‑ and community‑based camps, screenings and awareness on physical and mental health, hygiene, nutrition and lifestyle diseases.

Focus on early detection and counselling rather than only episodic curative care.

Women‑centred health and livelihoods

Programmes that place women at the centre as decision‑makers, care‑seekers and community resource persons, echoing NRLM’s focus on women‑led SHGs and enterprises.

Livelihood interventions (e.g., stitching and other skills) linked to dignified work, local demand and social impact.

Convergence with Government priorities

Alignment with SDG 3 and 5; National Health Mission priorities on maternal, adolescent and mental health; and WCD schemes on nutrition, safety and empowerment.

Scope for direct CSR‑supported pilots that can later be absorbed or scaled in partnership with government systems.
